SNAP ON DENTURES AT ARLINGTON DENTAL EXCELLENCE

Snap on Dentures

What are Snap-On Dentures?

Traditional dentures depend on your gums and jawbone for support. This method has been used for many years to replace all missing upper or lower teeth. Over the years, there have been improvements in materials and patients have achieved improved results. While modern traditional dentures look and function better than those in the past, there are still some disadvantages:

  • Diminished bite force
  • Continued bone loss
  • Denture movement during eating and speaking
  • Inability to chew harder foods
  • Impaired nutrition (due to inability to chew)
  • Frequent adjustments and replacements required
  • Sagging facial muscles

When you come in for your consultation, discuss these pros and cons with the team at Arlington Dental Excellence. We can help you with other options if you decide that snap-on dentures are not for you, or if you decide you want to, we can guide you in moving forward with this treatment.

What is the process for getting snap-on dentures?

The first thing you will do is have your initial consultation with Dr. Jureidini and the staff at Arlington Dental Excellence. This is the time when you will ask any questions and address any concerns. This is also the time that the cost and financing options will be discussed.

Next, if you decide to move forward with this tooth restoration treatment, if you have any extractions or bone grafting needs, those will be done.

Once you heal from those, the implants will be placed. You will be given a temporary plate while you heal from this surgery.

Finally, once you have healed, your permanent plate will be attached, and you will be instructed on how to take care of it. All along the way, with each stage, you will be given aftercare instructions. Make sure to follow them to reduce the risk of implant failure.

FAQs about Snap-On Dentures

At Arlington Dental Excellence, we understand that getting tooth restoration, such as snap-on dentures, is a big decision. Here are some of the questions we are commonly asked about this procedure:

A: The beauty of snap-on dentures is that they don't cover the roof of your mouth. This is the reason they feel like natural teeth. They don't slip and slide around in your mouth and don't rub your gums or require adhesives.

A: The major benefit of snap-on dentures is that they require fewer implants. In fact, this tooth restoration option can be attached with as few as two implants. If you need an entire row of teeth, you may need 4 or even 6 implants.

A: When you come in for your consultation we can give you a specific quote- but on average, you'll spend around $6,000 for two implants and dentures. The price may be higher based on your personal circumstances and the number of implants you require.

A: A snap-on denture is removable, but you can sleep while wearing it. However, you must make sure that you are cleaning the denture every day to maintain good oral hygiene habits and keep your breath fresh.

A: Snap-on dentures do prevent bone loss, due to the pressure and stimulation of the implants on the jawbone. This keeps the jawbone healthy and strong.

A: Steak is typically difficult to chew, even for people who still have their natural teeth. If you bite down on a chewy piece of steak with your snap-on dentures, it can cause sore spots and destabilization. However, that doesn't mean you have to give it up- just cut it up into smaller pieces.
