Did you know that oral cancer claims the life of one American every hour? This statistic hasn’t changed in more than 40 years! However, the good news is that when detected early on, around 90% of patients with oral cancer experience a full recovery. At Arlington Dental Excellence, we use an advanced screening tech known as VELscope™, which is an FDA-approved light that we use to screen and detect oral cancer early on. This quick and easy, painless exam immediately identifies any unusual tissue, which could potentially save your life!
At Arlington Dental Excellence, we stay on top of the latest in dental tech, which is why we use a system known as DIAGNOdent. This is a laser technology that allows us to accurately and reliable detect tooth decay early on, before it advances and causes widespread damage. We use this tech along with the traditional methods of visual exam, dental exploration tools, and x-rays.
DIAGNOdent allows us to detect decay that is hidden deep inside the tooth where traditional methods can’t find it. This handheld device will scan your teeth with pulses of laser light. When the laser comes into contact with decay, it reflects back a fluorescent light to the sensor. This causes the device to emit an audible sound and provide a digital readout. As a general rule, the higher the number on the readout, the more decay is in the tooth.
At Arlington Dental Excellence, we offer laser-based dentistry, which has been a wonderful solution for our patients with severe dental anxiety. This allows us to treat patients safely without drills and scalpels and- in many cases, without anesthesia. We use a laser to cut/vaporize tissue during any surgical and dental procedures.
Laser dentistry uses a gentle spray of water along with laser energy to perform a variety of dental procedures, without pressure, heat, and vibration that come with the drill. We use the laser to sterilize the surgical site and seal off blood vessels, which reduces your risk of excessive bleeding or potential infection. Laser dentistry allows patients to be much more comfortable and relaxed during treatment.
For our patients who snore or have sleep apnea, NightLase® Sleep Apnea/Snoring Therapy is a simple, safe, and effective treatment.
This is a non-invasive treatment to improve the quality of your sleep. This therapy uses a laser to reduce the tightening due to the collagen in the oral mucosa tissue. Patients who undergo this therapy will experience a reduction in snoring and side effects associated with sleep apnea.
NightLase® does not require anesthesia and the results are immediate. Plus, you don’t have to be concerned with pain or swelling following the procedure. According to research, NightLase® is an effective, non-invasive option to reduce the effects of sleep apnea and diminish snoring.
Patients at Arlington Dental Excellence can take advantage of CEREC technology for same-day restorations.
With CEREC, you don’t have to worry about dealing with messy impression materials or irritating temporaries. This specialized CAD/CAM tech allows our patients to leave the office the same day with a lovely restoration. This is because with CEREC, we take a photo scan of your teeth using a special laser camera. This captures a detailed, 3D picture of the affected tooth.
This allows us to customize your restoration- whether you are getting a crown, inlay, or onlay. The only thing we need you to do is sit back and relax.
Once the dentist approves the design, the milling system will shape your restoration with a high-strength ceramic or composite block in a shade that will match your natural teeth. You can be assured that these restorations are 100% metal-free. With CEREC, you won’t have to schedule a repeat visit to have the restoration installed after we send it off to the lab. We can do it all in one day.
With advanced dental tech such as this, we are able to work with our patients to help them have beautiful teeth and healthy gums. Our intra-oral camera allows you to see which of your teeth have problems and what needs to be done to rectify them. The quality and clarity of the pictures are top-notch. You will enjoy working with our dental professionals to make informed decisions about your treatment. We believe that dental work should be a team effort. We want you to know exactly what we are doing every step of the way.
This unique tool, enables the orthodontist / dentist to capture a complete radiographic image of the side of the face.
Cephalometric X-rays are usually taken with a panoramic X-ray machine that will have a special attachment providing views of the side profile of the face, the jaw in relation to the cheekbone, information about “bad bites” or malocclusions and allows measurement of the teeth, assisting in orthodontic planning.
Arlington Dental Excellence uses modern dental tech to allow our patients to work with the dental team to achieve a flawless smile with beautiful teeth and healthy gums. With our intraoral camera, we can show you the teeth that need to be worked on as we explain your options. This tiny video camera produces accurate, clear pictures of your teeth, so that you can make informed decisions about your treatment. This believe that this fosters and supports an overall sense of teamwork between you and your dental team.
Much like a panoramic picture, the PlanMeca X-ray (a full mouth X-ray), provides a full view of your entire oral cavity!
The PlanMeca X-ray is a single picture of all your teeth and surrounding bones. It provides a 2D panoramic view of your entire mouth rather than just a couple of teeth at a time, an excellent alternative to the tiny pictures we has to piece together to see a complete set of your teeth. What this means to you as a patient is that there is greatly improved information for the doctor and can see much more than with traditional X-rays, thus allowing better diagnosis and treatment to you as the patient.
The PlanMeca X-ray also exposes parts of your jaw that can’t be seen with traditional dental X-rays
At Arlington Dental Excellence, we use SOPOROLIFE® Intraoral Scanner, which is an advanced dental tech that allows us to create digital impressions within a few minutes. These impressions can be used for a variety of dental procedures. The best part is, there is no discomfort, and we don’t have to use messy putties like with other procedures.
Digital dental impressions are much faster than other techniques because you don’t have to spend as much time in the chair waiting for the impression material to set and we don’t have to do re-takes to ensure accuracy.
Malocclusions, or teeth misalignment, affects many American adults. The key to fixing this misalignment is to exert constant pressure on the teeth, which stimulates bone remodeling. This is what happens for patients with traditional metal braces, clear braces, or Invisalign clear aligners.
However, at Arlington Dental Excellence, we offer AcceleDent®, which is a comfortable, electronic mouthpiece. This treatment option speeds up the process of bone remodeling to bring your teeth into proper alignment quickly. Another advantage to this treatment option is that it reduces tenderness, which makes the entire process much more comfortable.
With AcceleDent®, you wear the mouthpiece for 20 minutes a day during treatment, and it delivers a series of high-frequency, evenly distributed micro-pulses to the upper and lower jaws. These micro-pulses are similar to what you’d feel if you’re using an electric toothbrush. They increase blood flow to the soft tissue and bone, which reduces the time it takes to remodel the jawbone.
OrthoPulse® is a device that has been FDA-approved for use with brace and clear aligners. It uses a low-intensity infra-red light to stimulate the jawbone surrounding the roots of your teeth, accelerating tooth movement, which could potentially reduce treatment time.
FAST: Just one convenient 10-minute treatment per day can speed up the movement of teeth, reducing the time you will need to wear braces or aligners.
SAFE: OrthoPulse® is clinically-proven, safe. This tech has been used for 60+ years and has been the subject of 3,300 research studies.
EASY: The device is easy to use and comfortable, so you can use it at home or while traveling, in bed or while sitting on your couch watching TV. You don’t have to worry about changing your schedule to accommodate this treatment.
The Medit i500 Intraoral Scanner makes it possible to create digital impressions for many dental procedures in just a couple of minutes, without the need for messy putties or the discomfort associated with other impression techniques.
Digital impressions are faster because they take less chair time - no waiting for materials used for impressions to set and no retakes needed to achieve the accuracy needed. Medit i500 Intraoral Scanner produces clear and accurate pictures of all your teeth.
This technology, allows our patients to work together with the dentist to have healthy gums and beautiful teeth.
